Donna Stewart

Donna Stewart is a printmaker, community artist, and artist-educator living in Cambridge, Ontario.

A proponent of safer printmaking practices, she holds a Certificate in Green Printmaking: Intaglio Etching from Zea Mays Printmaking in Massachusetts and developed her own unique approach to collagraph, an additive relief technique in which prints are pulled from collages of textured materials.

Donna’s backyard is a sanctuary for the wildlife that frequents the Woodland Park trail near her home in Hespeler Village. While animals often figure in her work, people are her principal preoccupation: who we are, how we are in relation to others, and why. Her work is held in private collections in Canada, the US and the UK.

A founding member of the Riverside Print Group, Donna’s volunteerism was recognized by Arts Awards Waterloo Region. She has received the City of Cambridge Bernice Adams Legacy Award for Visual Art, as well as a Chalmers Professional Development Grant from the Ontario Arts Council.
